“I have been training with Alex since January 2015, (mainly within a group session, but also occasionally on a one to one basis), and would thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone. I always considered myself to be disciplined in my exercise regime, but it was only after a class with him that I realised how much further I could push myself and how effective exercise is when you get the techniques right. Having a session booked means I not only commit to that hour of training, rather than sit on the sofa/go for a drink etc. but that I am fully committed to the exercises within that hour, rather than simply going through the motions.
Alex never intimidates, he only motivates. His sessions are always just the right balance between challenging and achievable. He doesn’t push me further than I ought to go, he does not let me coast along either. Moreover he sets a great example, keeping fit, & regularly updating his skills with new courses. I like to try new things and Alex has no shortage of ideas, techniques and equipment for me to try. Alex is friendly, enthusiastic, professional, reliable and well- prepared for all our sessions, and I highly recommend him.”

“I found Alex through a suggestion by a friend at the Virgin Active club in Angel. I had booked 8 personal training sessions and I mainly wanted to focus on general toning and weight loss.
Al was a great fit for a personal trainer to help me kick-start my fitness programme and achieve my goals. He is very knowledgeable about nutrition and made thoughtful observations and constructive suggestions on improving my diet. Al devised a fairly challenging routine of exercises and adjusted the intensity based on my progress. The exercises were varied and exposed me too many different ways to achieve the same result, allowing me to better understand what type of exercise I prefer and would be able to continue doing after I complete my PT sessions. Over a period of 4.5 weeks, through a combination of diet and exercise I was able to lose 8lbs and increase general muscle tone and cardio endurance.
Al is very personable and makes it easy to establish a connection straight away. His approach is a combination of encouragement and detailed explanation of how the exercise is done and what result it achieves. He is firm and did not allow me to give up when I felt challenged. At the same time, he always asked for feedback on the exercise and its intensity, as well as my general state during a session.

“I’ve trained with Alex for nearly five years and - in all honesty - wouldn’t change that for the world. It’s not easy training with Alex, by all means, but he’s an incredible individual with masses of talent, time and patience, and training is never supposed to be ‘easy’ anyway, nobody gets stronger through doing stuff that’s ‘easy’.
Alex understands his individual clients on an unparalleled basis, he seeks out their character and works with their traits to best benefit their goals. He can judge a client’s mood and temperament as soon as they walk on to the gym floor, working with them - and not against them - is crucial for a client’s success, and he does this intrinsically.
If I’m stressed, he’ll work to destress me. If I’m distracted, he’ll work to focus me. If I’m low on self esteem that day, he empowers me. This is a talent not every trainer has, but Alex has it naturally, and uses this skill perfectly and without fear.
Working with the sort of clients he does, Alex is extremely versatile with his training, he has trained me on my roof, in private gyms and on corporate gym floors, if I needed him to travel with me on business, I know he would. He understands the constraints on my time since I run multiple businesses, and he works around that. He has trained me on Saturdays, late at night and even on his - and my own - birthday. It was the best birthday present I could give myself. In this respect, he is priceless.
Alex also brings added value in knowing extensively about nutrition and mental health too, he doesn’t just train my body, he trains my mind, my life and my direction. He is also a friend, I know he’s on my side, even when that side might not want to train and is grumpy at the world, he gets it. I would recommend him, without hesitation, to anyone. He’s a blessing in a black tracksuit.
